MEDIAASCETICISM MEDIAASCETICISM AS A PHENOMENON OF THE DIGITAL CULTURE
Abstract
The task of this interview is to examine the features of media asceticism as a phenomenon of the digital age. The authors answer the questions whether the refusal of the media is a trend, and how much this trend is manifested in Russia compared with Western culture. The relevance of registration the digital etiquette rules and the possible role of media asceticism in these rules were examined in this interview. Also this work answers the question of whether the media asceticism practices serve as a marker of belonging to the elite social class. In connection with this aspect the concept of snobbery media is suggested. Further, in the analysis of the main vectors of media asceticism development, as well as its potential as a tool to bridge the digital divide and improve media literacy. Consider the features of modern media asceticism, the authors attempt to predict the prospects of development of the movement in accordance with the analysis of the rapidly changing realities of the information society.
